On Thursday, April 11, troopers from Somers conducted their distracted driving enforcement detail in school zones at Somers High School, John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, North Salem High School and John Jay High School.
During the detail, a total of 21 traffic tickets were handed out, including six school zone speeding tickets, five drivers were nabbed for not wearing seatbelts, two distracted drivers on cell phones and one arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana.
New York State Police troopers have conducted similar details throughout the year, previously targeting speeding drivers on I-684 in northern Westchester and impaired motorists during Super Bowl Weekend.
